Lithography is an exciting medium, and offers an incredible range of marks and visual expression for the artist. If you are interested in learning more about lithography, contact the studio to determine what type of workshop you would like to schedule. Workshops are scheduled on demand. In this day and age of increasingly busy calendars, we prefer to match schedules with you. Below are sample workshops and pricing estimates. Please contact us with any questions.
INTRODUCTION TO PRONTO PLATE WORKSHOP
Pronto plate lithography is a terrific way to introduce yourself to lithography. Also known as polyester plate lithography, the medium is relatively quick and easy to master as well as being economical. An artist can incorporate hand-drawing as well as small photo or collage elements.
A workshop will cover basic printing, along with information about color printing and registration.
All materials except printing paper are provided; some paper is available for sale at the studio.
An Introduction to Pronto Plates workshop requires two work sessions (3 hours each): either two evenings or a Sat./Sun. afternoon.
Cost of the workshop: $ 375. This can be split between up to three participants.
INTRODUCTION TO STONE LITHOGRAPHY (INTENSIVE)
Artists who work on stone have described it as one of the most amazing surfaces upon which to work – truly a luscious and tactile experience. Stones offer the print artist a remarkable surface, with an almost limitless vocabulary of mark-making possibilities.
This workshop will introduce the artist to the basics of stone litho: preparing the stone, some of the various drawing materials, processing and printing the stone in black ink. All materials except printing paper are provided; some paper is available for sale at the studio.
An Introduction to Stone Lithography (intensive) requires 4 work sessions (3 hours each) which can be scheduled in the evenings, or condensed into a weekend.
Cost of the workshop: $ 750. This can be split between up to four participants. There is an additional stone charge of $25/person.
